The Biopage concept was similar to today's social networking platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc), except in the Biopage model, personal information was owned and controlled by the consumer. Raised seed capital, built management team, secured patent and other intellectual property protection, invented the "Consumer-Owned Information Network" (COIN), developed beta web application, hired and trained 21 person direct sales team, and reached preliminary agreement to partner with one of world’s largest advertising agencies. Final agreement was unable to be secured, resulting in the difficult decision to dissolve the corporation.Innovative concept was a failure due to (1) decision to pursue "consumer agency / infomediary" business model vs social networking model (2) hesitancy to adjust to a "free" business model (3) wrong timing (too early?), and (4) execution.Interestingly, no company has figured out how to develop a sustainable consumer agent/infomediary model, but there are a number of teams currently leveraging the power of Blockchain technology to attempt to address this opportunity.

Directly responsible for all sales, marketing, and operating activities in USA, Canada, and Latin America. Managed approximately 140 employees, 2500 subcontractors, 6 separate manufacturing facilities, 15 person direct sales force, and $1 million IT budget in a highly technical environment.Prior to General Manager role, was hired by Berlitz (NYSE: BTZ) in Dec 1991 as Assistant to Chairman/CEO. In 1992, worked with the CEO (Ambassador Joe Rodgers) and the senior management team to unwind the complex financial issues created by infamous investor Robert Maxwell. Was integrally involved in the marketing and eventual sale of Berlitz, culminating in the 1993 Institutional Investor magazine "Deal of the Year" (transaction value of $490 million). Shortly after closing the sale of the company, developed the turnaround strategy for money-losing division, Berlitz Translation Services, and was asked to execute the strategy (see above).
