The Rev. Dr. Lyn Pace is originally from South Carolina and joined Oxford College as college chaplain in 2009. He and his spouse, Ami Hernandez, have one son, Sam as well as a dog (Barnaby) and cat (Callie). They live in the city of Oxford where Dr. Pace served on the city council from 2012-2016. Among other things, he facilitates the work of the eleven religious and spiritual life clubs at Oxford College, assists with leadership programs, offers care and counsel for the college community, and teaches courses on understanding community as well as contemplative practices and social justice. Prior to coming to Oxford, Dr. Pace was the associate chaplain, director of service learning, and director of the Bonner Scholars Program at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From 2002-2003, he served as a minister in the British Methodist Church on the Isle of Wight in England. He is an ordained United Methodist minister in the South Carolina Conference of the UMC.Dr. Pace earned his BA degree in religion and history from Wofford College (Spartanburg, SC) in 1999 and received the Master of Divinity degree from Emory's Candler School of Theology in 2002. With the project, Understanding Community: Engaging Oxford College Students in Loving God's World, he completed his Doctor of Ministry degree from Candler School of Theology in May 2017. Dr. Pace likes to help students engage in meaning making as well as how they understand community both on and off campus. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, reading, traveling, and going to Jimmy Buffett concerts.
