I have a BS in biology and I an ASCP certified Histology Technician with over 30 years of experience in Histology. I have performed all tasks used in a histology lab. I have gained skills in grossing small tissues, embedding and processing all types of tissue, paraffin sectioning all types of tissue, frozen sections of all types of tissue (approximately 8 years of Mohs sectioning experience), H&E staining, special stains, immunohistochemistry staining, and coverslipping. I have worked in hospital labs, small dermatology labs, and very large reference labs. I've become skilled at routine and derm histology, animal and research histology, and even molecular biology--DNA testing (paternity and forensic), and gene rearrangement testing. Along the way, I have also been a supervisor, an accreditation manager, an OSHA monitor, a trainer, and a clinical research associate (CRA).
