Previously Founder, President and CSO at CoSensei, Inc. a software development company focused on applying blockchain technology to eRFPs. Previously Founder, President and CSO at Sound Pharmaceuticals. I love hard problems and human genetics. I trained with Dr. Mary-Claire King at UCB and helped move her lab to the UW. While at UW, I worked with Lee Hood in collaboration with Dr. King to identify and characterize mutations in breast cancer genes. I was fortunate to be part of productive and far reaching collaborations to identify and characterize genes for non-syndromic sensorineural hearing loss (DFNA1, DFNA15, DFNB34) and for hereditary breast, ovarian, and brain cancer (BRCA1, BRCA2, PTEN). After finishing my Post-doc at UW, I became an Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Genetics and was honored to serve on the 1999 Strategic Planning Committee of the NIH, Division of Deafness and Communication Disorders. In 2001, became Vice President and CSO of Otogene Inc. responsible for pre-clinical research and candidate drug development for cellular regeneration. In 2002 left Otogene to co-found SPI with a focus on development of drugs for hereditary and acquired deafness . My goal is to help discover, develop and market ethical drugs for neurologic diseases and cancer.I have developed a broad skill set including regulatory interactions with FDA to file 4 INDAs, establishment of an eCTD gateway for ongoing active filings. I have worked on the financial side of the company with significant background in raising over $20M to support preclinical and clinical drug development. I have knowledge of financing negotiations and budgeting needed to develop preclinical and clinical assets. I am able to successfully negotiate and manage multimillion dollar multi-year contracts with CDMOs and CROs. I have established a USDA regulated IACUC and preclinical research vivarium. I am able to write, edit and approve SOPs. I have contracted for and performed oversight GMP drug substance/drug product manufacturing and stability programs. Additionally, I have coordinated pharmtox packages for several INDAs and negotiated with FDA directly for allowance of INDs based on safety profiles established. I have coordinated Phase I and Phase 2 human studies and I am well versed in GCP sample and data collection, qualification, analysis and presentation to FDA. I am interested in applying these skills and my knowledge of molecular genetics to further the development of novel therapeutics that will positively impact our society
