Formerly a Trustee and Board Secretary, in June 2021 I was appointed as Chair ofTrustees. My involvement with Team Kenya over the last 10 years has also includedworking as a volunteer on the joint Team Kenya/Twende Pamoja values project, helping todevelop the transition plan to ‘shift the power’ to Kenya and supporting a very succesfulteacher training project on classroom management and active learning. I was theformer Head of Geography at Walbottle Campus and then Gosforth Academy beforechanging careers to lead the teacher training team at Newcastle College and then becameAssistant Principal of Newcastle Sixth Form College. Having retired in August 2019, Iam delighted to be able to support the charity in my new role.

Senior Manager Curriculum And Student SupportNewcastle College Feb 2007 - Aug 2014I am responsible for the development and operation of the curriculum, including both the academic and additional qualifications for 16 - 18 and 19+ students. I oversee the student support systems and processes to ensure students receive the best learning experience possible. I lead on developments in teaching and learning and look for new business development opportunities such as the provision of full cost courses and overseas delivery. I oversee a project based in the Sixth Form called SCENE (Sustainable Development and Communities North East) which provides enrichment opportunities, student and staff volunteering activities, community links and environmental awarenesss raising for the college. I also work closely with marketing on publicity and line manage School Managers with whole school responsibility. I currently also act as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Coordinator. -

I was involved in the validation of new courses with LLUK (Lifelong Learning UK) and worked closely with colleagues to establish the college as a CETT (Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training)

Head Of GeographyGosforth High School Aug 2000 - Apr 2005I was responsible for the success of Geography across the school, from Key Stage 3 to A Level. I also supported other Heads of Department through the Leading through the Middle development programme. For two of the years I worked at Gosforth I also worked as a visiting lecturer on the PGCE (Secondary) Geography course at Newcastle University. I was involved with David Leat's Thinking Through Geography project and am a co-author of "Thinking Through Geography" and "More Thinking Through Geography"
