Responsibilities include:- Leading a dedicated podiatry/rheumatology service, including service development, securing funding for additional clinics, providing cross-disciplinary training to the rheumatology team, and visiting rheumatology teams under other authorities for auditing purposes.- Delivering musculoskeletal (MSK) clinics, providing diagnosis, footwear advice, stretching programmes for rehabilitation and orthotic prescriptions, simple manufacturing and casting for custom-made insoles, and onward referrals for transfer of care to orthopaedics or orthotists, for example, or to aid diagnosis, such as ultrasound, when appropriate. - Providing ulcer management, including assessment, treatment, including offloading using insoles and casting techniques (heel & slipper casts) working as part of the lower limb pathway and within the specialised diabetic secondary care service.- Assessment and management of complex vascular patients, including referring directly to vascular registrars.- Extensive note keeping as part of my role predominantly on SystmOne and Lorenzo, including the use of digital imaging to monitor treatment outcomes.- Working on wider service development within the podiatry service, including devising digital templates for note keeping, developing pathways such as referral pathways, writing standard operating procedures, and providing training in-service and to other health professionals.- Mentoring, managing and motivating a six-strong team of clinical staff in their work.- Carrying out clinical supervisions of staff.- Carrying out home visits.- Mentoring students, including the organisation and delivery of productive work placements.
