About Lynda Krystell Gonzalez Velasquez
My name is Lynda Krystell Gonzalez Velasquez, I am a Cadastral and Geodest Engineer, originally from Colombia, but have permanently moved to Australia three years ago. I am an Engineer, with over ten years of experience and have recently completed my Certificate IV in ‘Leadership and Management’. In addition to this I have specialized in Environmental Planning and Natural Resources Management, as also have completed several educational courses about satellite imagery and direct radar image processing. These qualifications have given me knowledge in the field of cartography, mapping, databases, cadastre, image processing and geospatial production techniques, as also GIS. Most of my professional experience has been working comprehensively with the Colombian government, handling government projects with the utmost integrity and dealing with sensitive issues such as land restitution for victims of the armed conflicts (farmers and indigenous people). I have frequently used my creativity and problem-solving skills and developed social and community service skills by interacting with different cultures. A further field of my work was dedicated to illegal deforestation, in which I collaboratively managed to reduce production times from 6 to 3 months in the national digital map of early warnings of deforestation in Colombia. These as also several other projects allowed me to train and upskill as also to be at the forefront of software and development in the remote sensing industry. My in-depth experience has helped me gain many professional qualities such as a being proactive, showing self-initiative, being a quick learner, as also working without supervision and gaining various computer skills and many more transferable skills that can be applied to a vast number of professional settings. I am a hard-working person who enjoys challenges, learning and taking on new information.
