I oversee a team responsible for all daily operations of the department, including internal communications and workflow, budget management, and workplace logistics and security.- Develop strategic plans for department as member of Executive Leadership team. Assigned to lead special projects and committees and coordinate state accreditation.- Serve as Public Information Officer, responsible for collaborating with programs on communication strategies, including social media and website messaging; writing press releases; coordinating media interviews; approving marketing collateral; and designing publications and reports.- Manage 400 contractual agreements annually, certifying all requirements are met with no lapse in essential services.- Facilitate approval process for departmental needs by preparing bi-weekly briefs for County Administration and Board of Commissioners.

I led an extremely talented staff and dedicated volunteer committees in meeting operational goals through design, development, and implementation of six programs with overlapping timelines. I developed a strategic plan for the community engagement department to meet annual goals and long-term vision. I created processes and protocols, and trained staff to implement within their programs. I was responsible for grant writing, program planning and management, progress reporting, budget management, tracking measurable goals implementing strategies to meet requirements, and volunteer coordination. I collaborated on marketing collateral and campaigns with staff, Leadership and President/CEO. I love connecting people to opportunities that align with their interests and talents, and creating efficient systems for more successful outcomes. Serving as the Community Engagement Director at United Way was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. I left the position due to a relocation.

While completing my masters program, I worked full time as the Statewide Program Coordinator of the College Access and Success AmeriCorps mentoring program. My main responsibilities were to monitor compliance, oversee the budget, and develop a programmatic structure for the 16 unique host sites across the state of Florida. During my time with FL|CC, the program received funding for the third year, increased the volunteer enrollment rate by 48% and the retention rate by 13.3%, produced Annual Reports, and developed a program manual with policy and procedures for implementing the grant. I left the position due to completing the coursework for my masters and the grant cycle ending.

For two years I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) in Pensacola, Florida, with the local non-profit Chain Reaction. I recruited and trained teenage volunteers, college student leaders, and adult mentors. I was responsible for managing programs that developed skills in leadership, project planning, team building, and conflict management. I had the opportunity to progress from entry level assignments to making significant decisions and creating policies that directly affected the organization’s future. I developed a two-county wide marketing plan with area schools promoting teen volunteerism, orchestrated resources for monthly volunteer projects with local non-profits and businesses, and assisted local leaders with the execution of a youth leadership program (Youth LeaP Class 2010 and 2011). After completing my second term, I left Pensacola to obtain my masters at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

I developed sales techniques and consistently improved monthly sales goals while strengthening communication skills through routine cold calling, networking events, and presenting at professional associations. I left this position to pursue a different career path and to join AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America).
