After a foray into environmental journalism, I started my career with a biotech start-up in 1988, based in the UK, where I served as Finance Director for 8 years. I moved to South Africa in 1995 where I founded Aurora Tourism (originally known as Tripos Tourism) which I then grew both organically and through acquisition. I was Chairman of Aurora Tourism’s main subsidiary, Tripos Travel, for 12 years whereupon it became a subsidiary of a listed South African company. Thereafter I served at Tripos as CEO until 2015 and have served as non-executive director since then. Since 2015 I have spent my time focusing on other investments within the Aurora Capital portfolio (especially insurance and real estate). In 2019 I returned to the UK with my family and am based in Somerset. My obsession remains with technology-orientated start-ups and early stage investment. To that end I founded a company in 2020 called Sharegov Ltd which is developing software that manages shareholder communication in early stage UK companies.
