I continued as acceptance test lead on the next release of the KPI tool. At this point we deployed Agile Testing.

I returned to the newly rebranded AT&T to work on a number of new networkdeployment projects. This included the acceptance testing of new MSCs andSGSNs for UMTS, and supporting field testing of the subsequent UMTS rollout.Similar work was performed for the deployment and rollout of LTE and VoLTE.During testing, I performed EPC and IMS analysis and troubleshooting usingsignal monitoring tools such as IRISView and Wireshark. I was also lead on a number of side projects, including standardisation testing and OTA profile verification. I was technical lead on an IOT device migration project. This involved testing a number of customer IOT Devices, including RF module and firmware tests. My final project with CTAC was as acceptance test team lead on a KPI reporting project. This included my first exposure to the Agile methodology.

Back at Ericsson I split my time between CPU troubleshooting, softwarerelease management and software deployment.

CTAC was an organization within Cingular Wireless responsible for theend-to-end testing of new network features. During this time we verifieddeployment of wireless number portability and supported Cingular’s adoptionof GSM. This involved a detailed understanding of the Cingular network andthe tracing of SS7 signaling. During the Cingular/AT&T wireless merger, I was responsible for developing ageographic test plan to test the combined network. I also managed a smallside project to develop a software tool for SMS latency measurement.

Tier III global customer support for Ericsson CPU issues, with a specialfocus on the North American market. This included CP upgrades, onsitehardware troubleshooting, analyzing trouble reports and creating anddeploying software patches. I handled incident management for switch outages. I also wrote and presented in-house training materials with regards to best customer support methods.

Product support for Ericsson’s high availability central processor units. Iwas involved in the analysis of trouble reports and the writing, testing anddeployment of software patches. This required deep knowledge of theequipment at hardware, software and firmware levels. In addition, I supported the first office deployment of a new generation ofCPUs, including the cutover and troubleshooting of the new hardware inseveral global markets. Lessons learned were relayed back to engineering andpassed to upper management in reports and presentations. In addition, Iprepared a number of training and knowledge transfer presentations that wereused both internally and externally.
