Currently employed by Openreach to provide support to a project management team and co-ordinate the activities of contractors, Openreach engineers and 3rd party companies in the construction of the new "Next generation access" fibre network in the west and northwest Midlands.

Responsible for the physical security of a large number of buildings in the midlands and Wales ranging from large office blocks to small exchanges. The work involved specifying both physical and electronic security measures and managing the installation of these through to handover - major projects involved full uplifts to large city centre exchanges and offices.

Responsible for liasing with external contractors and local authorities with the aim of preventing damage to BT external networks. After liasing with the contractor/local authority to discover the exact nature of their work I mark out the location of the underground BT plant. I then arrange follow up visits for me to call back, as necessary, to make sure that BT plant has not been adversely affected by their work. This involved all aspects of the external network from cabling to E-side, D-side and fibre jointing. This work gave me a sound engineering background.

I joined BT as a CA during the changeover to CSS, working in Business Sales before moving across to the Installation Control.
