When I became an amputee in 2010 my life changed dramatically. Ever since then I have tried to embrace every opportunity that has come my way...and there's been some strange ones! I've learned many new skills, met inspirational people, and my outlook on life has become more positive and I am more motivated than ever. The way I do things may have changed, but I don't let anything stand in my way.

Designer And OwnerNeo WalkYork, Gb -
Designer/OwnerNeo Walk Feb 2013 - PresentI love colour and fashion, and I do believe that bright is beautiful, but sometimes an occasion calls for subtle and discreet. As a walking stick user, on the day I got married I didn't want my stick to take the attention away from my amazing dress! I wanted it to be invisible... But on the other hand I really do love colour, it reflects my personality and my unique style. Okay, so I use a walking stick, but that doesn't mean I can't be fashionable, elegant and a little bit quirky? It was many conversations like this that led to the creation of Neo-York and our clearly stylish lucite walking sticks. Gone are the days when walking sticks should be hospital grey and clunky, 'issued' by people who have never needed to use one. With funky coloured sticks to match different outfits, or clear sticks for those 'invisible' days, I am free to express my attitude to life without emphasizing my disability. They are fun for a party, chic and stylish for a wedding, but strong, practical and reliable to take out every day. Great for guys and for an unusual gift. Let the colours compliment or let the colours collide!Made by hand, by us in York, with love. -
OwnerMaison Coeur À Pontacq Jul 2016 - PresentGers, FranceIn November 2015 we moved to France for a change of pace and a new challenge. Together, Richard and I reinvented and renovated our five bedroomed gite into a stylish tranquil holiday home. We welcomed our first guests in July 2016. An exciting addition were film cameras following our journey for the Channel 4 programme A New Life in the Sun. Giving a warts and all account of living and working in a new country, as we learned the language, embraced French life and tried to make the new business work. It will be showing on tv in Spring 2017.

Trauma Casualty ActorAmputees In Action Apr 2011 - Jun 2015Using special effects make up, I take part in live exercises with the fire, ambulance and police services, and the army, as a casualty who has undergone a traumatic amputation. They have to locate, treat and save me where possible. Skills required... must be able to scream loudly, swear like a hooligan, be very uncooperative where necessary, and not be squeamish or afraid of projectile blood.

OwnerLyndsay Watterson Mar 2015 - Apr 2015York, United KingdomI am an actress and I played the part of Peggy Sue, the hopeless one legged stripper in The Bad Education movie starring Jack Whitehall. Filming took place in Cornwall, some working over night to shoot scenes. I really enjoyed it, but did not realise how hard actors have to work on set, shooting the same scene again and again again. Would love to do more of the same!

Freelance PerformerGraeae Theatre Company Jan 2013 - May 2014I perform as a trapeze artist in the current production of The Limbless Knight. A story of rights re ignited. A story of bravery and sacrifice. I am very proud to take part in this beautiful show, our audiences are captured by the haunting music and the talented cast who are all disabled. This year we performed and The Greenwich and Docklands Festival and Liberty Festival at the Olympic Park. Look out for upcoming shows in 2014.Following the success of The Limbless Knight I went on to perform at circus festivals in Brazil and also at the ceremony of the lighting of the Paralympic Winter Flame in Aylesbury. It was a great honour to take part in all these events showcasing how disability need not affect your dreams to perform and succeed.

Aerial And Trapeze PerformerLondon Paralympics 2012 Apr 2012 - Sep 2012I was fortunate enough to train as an aerialist and trapeze artist to perform in the Paralympic Opening Ceremony. At heights of around 25 metres I had a view of the Olympic stadium like no other. It was a memorable London 2012.After the Opening Ceremony I began training with Lazslo Simet, Hungarian aerialist of world renown. He was on a motorbike on a hi wire and I was on a trapeze underneath him, and together we soared up to 50 metres and I had a night I will never ever forget.

Hair StylistThe Academy Sep 2004 - Apr 2006I trained to be a hair stylist at The Academy, Malton. I had grand plans to open my own salon eventually. Life overtook me and I never did, but I still cut and colour family and friends hair, and I'm also qualified and experienced in hair extensions too.
