About Lyndsey Carter
Throughout my high school career, I recognized that I had a passion for success in the academic field that lead me to keeping seeking more for myself. Even though I was not sure what career field to pursue, I knew that I had a desire to help other people. I also knew I definitely did not have a knack for needles or blood (so that helped me narrow down my search)! After I graduated high school, I obtained my first job. I was a bank teller at Crossroads Bank in Wabash, Indiana. This position helped me flourish in the customer service industry and furthered my desire to obtain a career in which I helped others. My determinism led me to Indiana University Kokomo to gain experience and knowledge in the field of psychology. After being in this field for a year, I realized my drive for helping and understanding others was leading me to a different area of study and I changed my major to communications and public relations. I gravitated toward the openness of the communications career field and the endless possibilities and directions in which it could lead me. After two years in the communication field and toward the middle of my senior year, I focused more on a career in human resources by adding a human resources minor. Even though I pursued human resources in college, I give much credit to my workplace for encouraging me to further follow my desire to be in human resources as I wanted to positively impact the lives of employees. I enjoy the field of human resources because it gives myself the opportunity to impact inclusivity and diversity in work environments as well as ensure fair treatment for all. I want to contribute to the success of an organization. My passion for serving others continued this year as I transitioned out of my bank teller position and started my first position in the Human Resources Department as being a Retail Banking Educator. In this current position, I am able to develop and maintain strong connections with the employees within Crossroads Bank, especially in the teller area since I educate retail bankers for all seven regional branches in northeast Indiana. These series of events and experiences throughout the end of my high school career, undergraduate career, obtaining my first job, and internship in human resources all have allowed me achieve the growth I needed to understand more about myself and what I love about the intricacies of human resources as well as the dynamics and importance of teamwork. I am excited to continue serving communities and learning more about myself through the field of human resources!
