My position at EC Constructors is both Payroll Administrator and Human Resorces. I am responsible for processing Payroll and have used multiple payroll systems in my time there. I also complete weekly Certified Payroll Reports as well as collecting similar reports from all of our subcontractors on all of our projects. In this position, I work extensively with Excel creating and using different types of spreadsheets as well as Adobe Acrobat creating forms and submitting Proposals. I also work with three different web-based programs to complete and submit Certified Payroll. Along with the Payroll, I am responsible for answering phones, filing different types of paperwork and keeping employee files updated. I track work that is being done on different job sites and which employees are on the job. In my position, it is important to make sure that all project are compliant to the California Labor Laws and Codes and that each employee is getting paid their fair rate in accordance with Prevailing Wage. I often hold Labor Compliance meetings for all subcontractors on a particular project to make sure they have all of the updated Labor requirements for the upcoming project.

LEAP is a program through PLNU that allows 25 students who did not make the admissions cut to attend the University. From August - January, I was assisting my supervisor in advising the students as well as conducting research on Study Skills programs in Higher Education. At the end of January/beginning of February, my supervisor left the University and I took over her duties. I continued to meet regularly with struggling students as well as assisted them with their academic needs. I met with each student individually to create 4-5 year plans for their major in order to ensure that they will be on track to graduate. I was part of weekly staff meetings to discuss each student and how they are doing both academically and socially as well as created plans to help them when they were struggling.

I was a Student Athlete Mentor in the San Diego State Athletics Department. I met with athletes weekly, one-on-one, from 30 min. to 1 hour at a time. I help them develop productive work habits as well as check their grades and class schedules to make sure they are keeping up with classwork and due dates. After the meetings, I was responsible for writing reports for the Advisors as well as the coaches so they were aware of each athlete’s progress. Another important aspect of the job was making sure the needs of each athlete are being met whether the student athlete was assigned to me or not. I had supervision hours in which I coordinated tutoring as well as monitored the athletes’ performance in Study Hall. Over the summer, I co-tutored a tutorial class for the incoming freshman. I would review the lesson with them as well as assist with any help they needed on their assignments.

I was an Academic Coach in the tutorial program at Helix Charter High School. I worked in a program for Freshman called ExL (Extended Learning) for my first 3 years. In the 2010-11 school year, I was placed in a 10th Grade Study Skills class and moved up to 11th Grade Study Skills in the 2011-12 school year. In my position as Academic Coach, I am responsible for helping students with homework questions they may have and making sure the students stay on task in my class. I was also responsible for checking grades weekly and talking to various teachers about my student’s progress in their class. When I moved to the Study Skills class, I was responsibly for re-teaching lessons, helping students with a large range of ability level and working closely with Teachers and other stuff so that my students will get the most out of their schooling.
