Responsibilities include performing charge nurse duties which include managing a 48+ bed unit with up to 7 to 8 nurses and 4 to 5 nursing assistants with a population of clients with diagnoses including but not limited to CHF, pneumonia, HTN, DM, CVA, UTIs, altered mental status, seizures, chest pain, and ARF. Some duties while performing the staff nurse role include admitting patients and obtaining detail medical history and clarifying medicine profile, giving immunizations, starting IVs, administering all routes of medications, utilizing and removing PICC, central lines, and portacaths, managing chest tubes, tracheotomies, PEG feedings, vital signs, wound care, preparing clients for procedures and surgeries, isolation procedures, and providing education to the patients relavent to their diagnosis or medications. Also complete all of the units process of improvement chart audits each month which include at least 180 chart reviews.

My responsibilities included performing the role of a staff nurse of a neurological and neurosurgical floor that included a 10+ bed step-down unit. Patient care responsibilities included but were not limited to lumbar drains, ventriculostomy care, chest tubes, arterial lines, central lines, cervical traction, airway management, ICP monitoring, and ventilatory care.

Responsiblities included managing a case load of home patients that were receiving home intravenous medications or IV nutrition. Their care was maintained by keeping close tabs on the client, their supplies, their doctor's appointments, lab work, prescription changes, side effects and their therapeutic responses to the medications, educating on the appropiate uses of our supplies and products, and arranging home health visits and arranging supply deliveries. Also we provided a clinic to administer IV medications including but not limited to Remicade, Solumedrol, Cytoxin, and IV immunoglobin to all age clients. We also provided a clinic for administering Synagis to infants. This job required accurate record keeping to maintain the home patient with appropiate suppiles and to keep our pharmacy well stocked with required medications. Accurate planning was required to provide our delivery team with the information the needed to deliver the appropiate supplies weekly to our clients.
