I work with children and students from 6 years to 18 years of age being a substitute teacher, mentor, tutor, friend, and person to go to when they need help. I also work with students who are going through struggles and need assistance. The struggles/problems they talked about did not make it impossible for me, it made me want to help them more and achieve higher accomplishments. In my Undergrad years as well as the present, I was involved in many organizations that fostered helping others in and out of my community. These organizations include setting awareness for sexual assault, domestic violence, mental health on the reservations, burnout in school, the mental well-being of elementary students, and the diabetes project. The organizations I have been a part of include the Sexual Assault Services Organization (SASO), Peer Helpers, American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Big Brother Big Sisters, etc. I've participated in many presentations, activities, and volunteer work around the Navajo Nation specifically in the schools. As well as, presenting my work and putting together a booth. Through this, I have been able to develop some social skills, communication skills, listening skills, computer skills, lots of soft skills, and hard skills. With this, I plan to assist students within my community and outside of my community with anything they may need, especially when it involves their mental well-being and educational endeavors.
