Lynette Monroe is a tireless advocate for culturally responsive education systems. Her research in education policy in countries that experience reoccurring ethnic conflict informs her pedagogical framework. With a Bachelors in Educational Psychology her education objective centers a holistic approach to challenges of national development. These passions are anchored by her expertise in Africana and historical studies.Lynette began her professional career as a Junior Associate for One World Strategy Group, a Public Relations firm in Houston, TX , where she was introduced to the world of Public Policy. Using her interest in African American Studies and culturally competent education systems, Lynette traveled to Accra, Ghana to complete an internship with the African Union Diaspora African Forum. There, she fully immersed herself in the local culture and served as the assistant to the Ambassador. Upon her return to the United States, she took advantage of several Public Policy opportunities in the field of Education; ultimately securing a position as Program Assistant for a three-year education grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. I’m an effort to better understand the application of education policy in real-world settings, Lynette combined her passion for historical narratives and education when she obtained certification for Secondary Social Studies. She served in the District of Columbia Public Schools for five years where she participated in various community engagement activities. In 2023, she received an opportunity to create a Social Studies curriculum for a public charter school in DC. There, she contributed her “Ubuntu” mantra to the school culture model.Her consistent goal is to add value. Throughout her professional experience, she has prioritized productivity and accountability. One of Lynette's strengths is her ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in fast-paced working environments. She is a life-long learner and thrives in environments that encourage professional growth and collaboration.Lynette Monroe believes that culturally responsive education systems are essential to healthy nation building.
