As the Sanitation Research Assistant, I oversee major research pilot projects undertaken by the organization to gain an understanding of innovative WASH ideas which are benchmarked for scale-up if approved. With this, I conduct action research to develop new sanitation products and modify existing sanitation technology in line with technical and market demand and requirements.

Kampala, Uganda

Research Assistant with a focus on Faecal Sludge Reuse Products, FS briquettes, and biochar in particular.• Determined biowaste samples to be tested as plausible replacements for the charcoal dust in the FS Briquettes.• Developed briquette testing matrix to evaluate the briquette product and test the new combinations of the briquettes with the biowaste sources.• Developed the biochar production process.• Coordinated routine tests with laboratories on faecal sludge, biochar, and briquette tests.• Set up plots for tests on the biochar.
