The Association for Talent Development (ATD) is a professional membership organization supporting those who develop the knowledge and skills of employees in organizations around the world. The association was previously known as the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD).

Culture enables success. I work with companies to determine their current culture strengths and weaknesses and then make recommendations for culture change around employee induction, work styles, career and talent, digital readiness and leadership philosophy.I also support a master class in helping organizations understand the pervasive impact of culture within organizations and how to look objectively at the culture within their own organization and have discussions with their stakeholders about why culture change is necessary for progress and improving their bottom line.

As a large portion of the TELUS learning program was outsourced, I was part of a small team who supported TELUS' 40,000 employees to define and receive the learning they required. My role focussed on enabling effective learning and collaboration regardless of topic, platform or location. I helped individuals and teams identify their learning and collaboration needs and then find the right combination of content, facilitation and platform to be effective in meeting or exceeding their goals. Whether face-to-face, online, virtual, social, etc. I ensured that everyone gained the information they needed when they needed it in time to be efficient, productive and successful. My programs focussed on corporate-wide initiatives such as induction, emotional and social intelligence and leadership.• Reinvented the Induction program, taking it from 63% satisfaction rate to 83% within a year and 94% by year 4.• Implemented a ‘non-fluffy’ emotional and social intelligence program making it (according to 1 veteran leader) the ‘best class ever taken at TELUS’.• Implemented and supported an avatar-based virtual platform that saw 7K learners in 4+ years, providing a highly interactive learning experience, fulfilling learning needs for new hires, emerging and high potential leaders, process improvement sessions, sales training and more.• Instrumental in helping the organization redefine what ‘learning’ means by introducing and normalizing the concepts of formal, informal and social learning.• Led program roll out of new concepts and philosophical shift in thinking around corporate leadership and values model.• Instrumental in deploying the leadership component of the TELUS Preferred Vendor program by writing the RFP, interviewing vendors and leading the team who made the vendor selections.TELUS won the ATD BEST award every year I was employed with them. My programs were always highlighted in our submissions.

I oversaw education development for Business Objects products for employees, partners, and customers. This included working with internal/external stakeholders and overseeing and resourcing (forecast and actual) 5 project teams made up of instructional designers, courseware developers, media developers and subject matter experts/facilitators. We produced 500+ deliverables per year. Implemented or designed and created multiple pieces of technology to support rapid development, team logistics and requirements gathering and prioritization.In 5 years we grew the education organization from 15 people to almost 100 while keeping production at peak capacity with less than 1% turnover in my responsible area. • Managed 35+ content developers, 2 – 10 contractors, and 30+ Subject Matter Experts broken into 6 project teams, producing 500+ deliverables per year.• Re-engineered development process (including how the developers interact with the business and other facets of education) within the company, resulting in a more streamlined work process.• Designed Education Resource Centre interface/database, allowing education creation (past, present, and future) recording, identifying education requirements and priorities from business and enabling Strategic Priorities and Risks Committee, prioritizing and approving all education requests.• Forecasted work for 40+ people while working with 6 project managers, meeting resource needs when forecast became reality.• Assisted growth of education organization from 15 people to almost 100 while keeping production at peak capacity with less than 1% turnover in responsible area.

Consulting with a firm has two facets: internal firm work and client/project work. Most often these two responsibilities must be fulfilled simultaneously.
