I am a financial regulatory compliance and banking law executive with 30 + years of experience. I have retired from my role on the Senior Advisory Board with Treliant, LLC. I remain involved in the regulatory compliance community and am working part-time for Hummingbird LLC. I am committed to helping compliance leaders transition to a more innovation, technology-based regulatory approach. Treliant Risk Advisors is a Washington DC-based consulting company providing risk consulting to financial institutions in the U.S. I am a licensed attorney in the State of Texas and have been in-house counsel and chief compliance officer in medium and large financial institutions. My work experience includes all areas of regulatory compliance, UDAAP, fair lending and banking law including consumer protection regulations, BSA/AML, lending and deposit transactions, real estate transactions, managing loans in litigation, payments, supervising enforcement action compliance and drafting and negotiating contracts. I specialize in helping financial institutions build proactive, strategic regulatory compliance programs, especially UDAAP compliance programs. I also have expertise in developing regulatory relationships and strategic visioning of compliance for large financial institutions. I am active in financial innovation events (e.g., NACHA Innovation meetings, NACHA Payments and CFSI’s Emerge Forum) to gain perspectives on emerging risks to consumers (especially vulnerable ones) for large retail financial institutions. I authored the following publications published by the ABA: Reference Guide to Regulatory Compliance, Law and Banking Principles, and Consumer Lending. I am the recipient of the 2012 American Bankers Association Distinguished Service Award.
