Summer research experience that investigated the discrepancies between titles or abstract and article claims in scientific papers, a topic of concern in academic publishing. Some field surveys of pesticides in bees and bee products report results in ways that can be misleading. Using an existing bibliography combined with records identified through a database search, surveys that indicated pesticide detections in their title, abstract, or text, were examined for what percentage of pesticide detections are above reported method detection limits. This review highlights the importance of accurate and transparent communication in scientific literature and proposes strategies to mitigate these discrepancies, emphasizing the need for authors and journals to uphold scientific integrity and promote responsible dissemination of research outcomes.Weekly presentation of research, methodology, results, and conclusions to wider scientific audience and specific disciplined audiences. Full time lab research investigating how field-realistic levels of pesticides impact honey bee foraging efficiency, honey bee metabolic rates and how quickly pesticides can be metabolized within bee bodies. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accumulation of Imidacloprid and its metabolites in honey bees over time. Honey bees were collected from a local apiary and brought to the lab for dosing. Monitor and facilitate in lab procedures of acclimating, starving, dosing, and observing honey bees while keeping detail notes in scientific notebook. Processing of samples, solvent extraction and preparing samples for LC-MS/MS non-target analysis. Data analysis to determine a dose of Imidacloprid at 200 ppb is adequate for further studies.Weekly presentation of research, methodology, results, and conclusions to wider scientific audience and specific disciplined audiences. Poster presentation at Indiana State University SURE symposium and later symposium for the Indiana Academy of Science.
