The Business Connect project focused on delivering a seamless, customer-centric, efficient, cross-agency platform that allows businesses to re-use their authoritative information, including the New Zealand Business Number (NZBN), across all levels of government. It was initially focussed on permission-based services that provide businesses with compulsory licences to operate (i.e., licences, certifications, permits and registrations). It enabled a completely new and innovative approach to delivering services across government by introducing the concepts of using common building blocks. By co-designing with other government service providers (GSPs) at cross agency workshops, we tested the concept of using common building blocks to create a better customer experience for business customers getting their permissions from government, using real world permission service examples with MBIE, NZ Customs, MPI and NZTA.Participated in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including evaluation of RFP respondents.

Information Sharing for Business - This project's intent was to make it easier for businesses when they interact with government, so they could spend less time on administration and have more time to run their business. Using Agile methods, we built a prototype to support the business customer by enabling them to use and re-use information and data that government holds, making requests for permits and licences easier and more efficient, by joining up services and sharing information that spans multiple government organisations, including local bodies. This project had an estimated project budget of around $1.6 million. Conducted requirements gathering, business analysis, business process mapping (current and future state) and developed business use cases for the prototype. Developed all user stories for the prototype (including story grooming), and acted as product owner when the product owner was absent. Worked closely with the external vendors (Appian and GoCouncil) to deliver the prototype within 8 weeks (including the planning sprint). Demonstrated the prototype to Chief Executives, Deputy Chief Executives, General Managers and staff across multiple government agencies, as well as customers, councils and other external parties.
