I started my career at the Women's Center of Vienna as a resident in counseling. I was interested in working with adults with eating disorders, but it became readily apparent that adults with eating disorders had been adolescents with eating disorders. As a result I pursued a PhD and focused on adolescent development and eating disorders.After nine years at TWC, I moved to private practice where I focused on eating disorders and other complicated mental health issues. At that time I became concerned with the barriers to good mental health treatment and after nine years accepted a position at the Inova Kellar Center as program director for their outpatient family services.During the 11 years at Inova, we expanded the outpatient program to allow for greater access to care. More children, adolescents and families were able to obtain affordable and quality care. Ultimately, I was promoted to Director and provided additional support to other Kellar services. Covid was a challenging time and one the prompted me to consider to move to the next stage of my life....retirement.Last year in April, I retired from Inova with the decision to maintain a small private practice. However, instead of going "back" to the way I had done it previously, I am currently providing telemedicine and am accepting most major insurance. The ability for someone to obtain treatment that is accessible and affordable remains a priority.
