Science Teacher & Outdoor Educator
Old Trail is the only independent school in a national park and we take advantage of this natural setting! We have a robust outdoor education program, solar panels provide a portion of green energy and all of the school's wastewater is cleaned in our "Living Machine." I manage the beehive and offer educational opportunities with it for students. I teach science as well as outdoor education to 3rd graders in which they study food waste, composting and farming.My achievements: - developing 90% of the science curriculum for grades 3-5- earning a GAR Foundation Educator Initiative grant for the Mapping Monarchs citizen science and poetry project- rehabilitating raised bed gardens into a butterfly habitat garden for student education and conservation- being part of the DEI committee for the school's accreditation process- coaching middle school track
