Artscape Wychwood Barns

The PMC Gallery is an interdisciplinary project-based art space at Artscape Wychwood Barns. Driven by a commitment to art education, PMC Gallery has partnered with the Children's Art Studio Inc to create a participatory experience of art for local schools, communities, families, and young people.As an enthusiastic and engaged member of the Artscape Community, the gallery also offers art exhibitions, film screenings, and community events. Recent (2023) projects include exhibitions by Cybéle Young (Nuit Blanche), Gillian Frise (Doors Open), and Damian Rogers-Storytelling with Sheila Arnold (Family Day Weekend)—poetry, collaboration, and performances with Damian Rogers, Mike Belitsky, and Link Collective.

Founded in 2009, the Children's Art Studio Inc (CAS) is a community-based art education studio at Artscape Wychwood Barns. The studio welcomes over 500 families annually, visits schools, and partners on special events. In 2023, Toronto Artscape Inc (now called ArtHubs Inc) recognized the value of CAS's work and invited us to manage the prestigious Peter MacKendrick Community Gallery (PMC) in Barn 2 at the Wychwood Barns. This transition has not only broadened our curriculum but also allowed us to support the community by co-curating project-based art events, a significant achievement for us. Deeply committed to ensuring every child has access to art education, the Children's Art Studio annually donates nearly $20,000 in discounted and subsidized programming. Company highlights include collaborations with the Toronto Public Library, Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Treehouse TV • Sinking Ship Entertainment, Crestwood Community School Theatre, and a feature in Toronto Life Magazine."Lynn's art studio is such a gem in our community. Led the transition from studio to exhibition space. Implemented systems and policies supporting rapid growth in production, exhibition and placement. Overseeing the day-to-day administration including the management of legal documents and financial budgets. Developed methods for client correspondence (CRM), archiving and provenance.

Designed and made small objects that were exhibited and marketed at large trade fairs including the One of a Kind Show and The Toronto International Gift Show gaining extensive experience in display, marketing, and customer relationship management. Items were sold across Canada to various boutiques including Robin Kay Home and Style and the Mary Rose franchise. Under this label, I also designed one of kind jewellery and props for film productions including the jewellery for the Walt Disney film 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' starring Lindsay Lohan. The main prop created for this film is now included in The Walt Disney Family Museum Permanent Collection. Work was featured in Flare Magazine, Now Magazine Urban Living 98, and an Ikea Catalogue. Responsibilities included managing a team of five artists, working directly with clients and construction partners including Pella Windows and the City of Mississauga. Overseeing installations, budgets, ordering supplies, managing inventory and general studio management.

The gallery regularly curated art exhibitions, and educational events.The unique setting of art combined with designer gift items and a creative studio in the back created a warm and inviting atmosphere for art collectors and local shoppers. Work was one of the first studios in Toronto to rent jewellery benches to independent designers.
