Research head of five distinct groups at Regeneron: VI-NEXT: An innovative technology development group that focuses on genome engineering in mice to generate novel immune-based therapeutics. Our group has developed mouse models that are capable of making human antibodies (VelocImmune®) and human TCRs (VelociT), and some that model key components of the human immune system in mice (VelociHum). Recent efforts are geared toward developing platforms for nucleic acid, ex vivo gene editing, and cell-based therapies.•Neuroscience: A dynamic preclinical research group focusing on nervous system biology, the pathophysiology of neurological disease, and the discovery of novel treatments for neurological disorders. The group has strong interests in probing the biology of chronic pain, refractory itch, and neurodegenerative disease. The group’s basic studies of the role of growth factor biology in nociception have resulted in two monoclonal antibodies advancing into clinical trials, and it is currently working to advance other novel treatment approaches for both pain and neurodegenerative disease toward clinic.•DNA Core: A cutting-edge service that focuses on mid to high throughput processes to help scientists meet their molecular research goals, including DNA & RNA extraction, sequencing, cloning services and quantitative real time PCR TaqMan® and digital qPCR. •Automation Core: Envisions and implements automation solutions by building and integrating lab equipment into one interconnected automated system. Among its initiatives is the automated biobanking core, which provides sample storage services in a controlled and fully automated environment.•Head of Research and preclinical Development operations group: cross functional group that leads the operational support and strategic growth of Therapeutic Focus Areas, Tech Centers, Research Cores in R&pD for key areas involving Facilities, Procurement, IT, and Legal.
