Singlehandedly ran test (ordering supplies, running assay, alerting physicians to toxic levels, and sending patient reports) to improve patient care and generate revenue for the hospital. Transferred method to mainstream clinical laboratory (Microbiology department). Ran the assay while training others so that it could become a monthly rotation for the staff, increasing their knowledge, experience, and productivity.Once expert in all rotations within the lab, volunteered to implement two different areas of automation added to the laboratory: an automated blood culturing system (BACTEC), and their first Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Learned both systems in depth, planned their implementation, executed to plan, and trained staff. Results included: improving staff safety in handling blood cultures, expanding staff skill set, increasing productivity, and most importantly, improving patient care.
