Lynn Socha is dedicated to creating and implementing interdisciplinary sustainability initiatives for climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience, and innovation for communities and companies across the U.S. and internationally.Lynn is a Consultant at Optera Climate. She works on a wide range of projects to develop greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventories, climate action plans (CAP), sustainability strategies and analyses for corporate clients. She has prior experience supporting clients at local to national levels of government across the U.S.Lynn received an M.S. in Environment and Sustainability from the University of Michigan. She specialized in Environmental Policy and Planning, Sustainability and Development, and also earned a Science, Technology, and Public Policy Graduate Certificate. During her first year of graduate school, she was awarded the Dow Sustainability Master’s Fellowship to conduct a feasibility study for a community solar project in Chelsea, Michigan with an interdisciplinary graduate student team. Lynn’s capstone master’s project for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) researched climate scenarios and equitable climate adaptation strategies for water and agriculture in northeast Namibia. Prior to graduate school, Lynn served as an AmeriCorpsCivicSpark Climate Fellow. She helped shape a sustainable future for Ventura County, California through extensive involvement in creation of the 2040 General Plan and its integrated Climate Action Plan (CAP), which outlines how the County will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable its communities to be prepared for and resilient to climate change-induced natural disasters. CivicSpark has enabled Lynn to support and empower local communities while enhancing skills in project planning and implementation, communication, outreach, and policy making.
