My career has revolved around education, first as a teacher, then as a college textbook publishing professional, and recently as a middle school teacher. I enjoy helping students succeed in their coursework so they can earn the degree they aspire to regardless of their educational, economic, or ethnic backgrounds. After my preliminary stint in teaching, I began my 20+year publishing career in sales followed by editorial management. Through building relationships both internally and externally, I was able to provide solutions that met both the needs of students and professors. As a Senior Sponsoring Editor for McGraw-Hill, Addison-Wesley (Pearson), and Houghton Mifflin (Cengage), my responsibilities included program/product management, financial management, process management, and people management. In collaboration with authors and subject matter experts, I directed the development and/or revisions of 100’s of textbooks, created accompanying student and instructor support materials for over 1,000 colleges, and updated technology resources for both hardware and software. Using a consultative approach, I created new products based on student/instructor needs and market research. As educational textbook publishing transformed into delivering personalized digital content, I returned to graduate school to learn new instructional design skills and implementations. In 2012, I was awarded a Master’s of Arts in Education, with an emphasis in Instructional Design/Technologies. My goals continue to revolve around student success, but now also includes creating and implementing best-in-class technology tools.
