I have love and interest in people and their cultural and personal experiences. I want to listen closely and ask questions that open up a larger conversation, providing a safe place for clients and their family members to share their views and process their experiences through their mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, creative and relational ways of being. Clients have given me feedback that during their therapy sessions, they discovered new ways to view their circumstances and learn and practice new tools and creative coping strategies to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and trauma.I have had experiences in a variety of therapeutic environments using a collective of strategies and methods that are evidence-based practices derived from cognitive-behavioral, narrative, solution-focused and internal family system practices. I like working in the school environment where therapy is provided to a client and families who would otherwise, not have access to therapy due to societal or personal circumstances. I started out as an elementary teacher and began observing family dynamics while doing teacher conferences with students and their families. I changed careers knowing that I wanted to learn more and help with the symptoms that get in the way of learning at school and improve communication.I graduated from University of Wisconsin- Stout to become a Marriage and Family Therapist. Being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy since 2009, doing in-home therapy, individual, family and group therapy in hospitals, private practice and school settings as well as attending several mental health related trainings and sharing with and listening to insights of others has made me a better therapist. I have always been known as a person that asks good hard questions. I genuinely want to listen and learn to how others are experiencing their life and help them adjust and adapt to liking themselves and finding their way to cope with symptoms and tough parts of life.
