Profile bio

About Lynne Deamelio-Rafferty

I have a rich professional history with an extensive mix of experience in management, education, and social services. I began my career with a deep interest in connecting with others and yearning to understand how the brain works. I was offered my first supervisor position in my late teens shortly after high school graduation. With a passion for social services for as far back as I can remember, I earned a Bachelor's Degree at UMass Boston in Criminal Justice and Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I nearly obtained a minor in Spanish as well, but was very ready for graduation!During my time working in retail management for CVS Pharmacy, I became a district wide trainer for new hires. In this job I fell in love with training and teaching. This prompted me to continue my life-long learning endeavors. I earned a Master's in Elementary Education at UMass Boston. I quickly learned that Special Education certification was a must-have companion in all educational fields and decided to go back and obtain a second Master's Degree at Wheelock. I explored many different types of jobs in education ranging from early childhood education to elementary, middle and even some high school special education work in Boston. I specialized in Reading Recovery for some of my tenure and worked in early childhood and therapeutic day school arenas. I quickly continued to include an Early Education and Care Director certification to my Early Education and Care Infant/Toddler/Preschool Certification and my Massachusetts Elementary and Special Education licenses. All the while I still gravitated toward the social service realm. Having had tastes of internships and experiences working at community health centers, helplines, domestic violence agencies, I continued trying to decide if I wanted to pursue a law degree or a doctorate in public health. Instead I decided to hone the skills I have and continue to pursue learning in any way possible. I found myself working with people experiencing homelessness at Greater Seacoast Community Health. Throughout my career I have moved throughout New England and have become familiar with many state policies, social service options, community agencies, etc. I eagerly network and connect in any area that I find myself in. I love adding connections and skills as I meet new people. I currently love working in social work as a TLP manager at Waypoint. I have found my home in social services. I enjoy not only working with clients, but also love coaching individuals and growing teams. This is an area where I will continue to grow and lead.
