Our mission is to improve the efficiency, clinical outcomes, and patient engagement in physical/occupational therapy through gamification. Mobile devices (phones, tablets, laptops) track body movement during game play. Our gaming software progresses the difficulty of the exercises automatically, and tracks adherence and kinematic outcomes. In a multi-site clinical trial published in eClinicalMedicine (Jan 2022), RxGames delivered equivalent motor outcomes to in-clinic practice and enhanced carry-over of treatment gains to daily activities. Participants in the trial met the clinical guidelines for recommended cardiovascular exercise by completing an average of 10 hours of unsupervised home exercise over 3 weeks.

Lynne Gauthier, PhD, is the director of the Neurorecovery and Brain Imaging Laboratory at The Ohio State University. The aim of the laboratory is to facilitate motor recovery following stroke or other brain injury. The lab is currently funded through the American Heart Association to study the neural correlates of motor recovery. It also received funding from the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute to design a video game version of Constraint Induced Movement therapy. The game shows promising initial results and we are now committed to making it accessible to the public.
