Managed three distinct programs for a non-profit agency serving senior citizens and adults with disabilities. Volunteer Program: Recruited, screened and trained volunteers to be matched with agency clients. Supervised an average of 150 volunteers each year. Public Relations: Established strategies for promoting the agency and all agency fundraisers and events. Wrote and distributed press releases, maintained media contacts, wrote newspaper articles. Home Repair Program: Coordinated major annual event to make safety related repairs to the homes of low-income seniors and adults with disabilities. Procured building materials and permits, recruited skilled volunteers, assigned teams, and supervised an average of 200 volunteers working on 24 homes each year.

• Designed a group learning model for a literacy program that had been based on one-to-one tutoring. Created training sessions for volunteer tutors and established program procedures for small-group learning. • Collaborated with colleagues to instruct literacy volunteers in teaching reading and writing to adult students. Observed classes taught by volunteers to assess lesson plans and teaching skills.• Instructed adult literacy students in reading, writing, comprehension skills and vocabulary. • Presented workshops on group learning at state and national literacy conferences. Consulted with and supported other California based literacy organizations. Organized educational forums through the Bay Area Writer’s Project for tutors, students and staff. • Supervised work of the student advocate. Participated on hiring panel.
