Senior Environmental Analyst-DwmCommonwealth Of Massachusetts Jul 2012 - Aug 2019Senior environmental analyst on a project team consisting of DEP, CZM, University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth Marine Program to evaluate complex estuarine environments including barrier beach limiting salt ponds, boat harbors, highly controlled embayments and open estuaries to create nutrient loading limitations estimates on Cape Cod and the Islands. The project is an innovative approach to valuating anthropogenic impacts on estuarine environments and developing nutrient estimates (total maximum daily loads-TMDL) to reduce those impacts and guide permit decisions and local planning. The basis of the work is a series of interconnected groundwater, surface water, estuarine, and chemical models to evaluate the habitat impacts in terrestrial and marine ecosystems reflecting present and build-out scenarios. The results of these models determine permit nutrient limits and future land use development potential. Additionally, alternative restoration and protective scenarios are evaluated through the models' balance of land use and development loading in the watershed, such as, sewer options, flood control manipulation, hydrographic connections and barrier beach management. -
