Knowledge is power. This may be an overused statement but I firmly believe that we as a society are powerless without knowledge. I have always enjoyed researching and discovering new ideas or concepts. Previously, that thirst for knowledge was used to supplement a training division by offering administrative support, which also enabled me to discover adult learning and development. I was able to see the intricacies of workforce education and I wondered how I could provide a deeper impact within my community but also within myself.Part of what drew me to my current position as a Crime Prevention Practitioner was the opportunity to share my passion for discovering new ideas with the community through crime prevention. The ability to give individuals a little insight on how to lessen their chance of being a victim of a crime has been very rewarding. All it takes is one person who understands the tips and techniques shared to make the day successful. After my first year as a Crime Prevention Practitioner I realized that I wanted to go further in my career as an adult educator, and I chose to pursue my Masters in Adult Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I would like to utilize the knowledge I gained as a training assistant and through my formal education as an adult educator to transition full time to adult learning and education. I think my ability inject humor and my easy going nature would benefit and enhance my goals to deliver quality instruction to my students but also work with my colleagues as well.
