Worked with the Barts and the London NHS Trust to set up an innovative new service bridging the gap between primary and secondary care. This role led to a detailed understanding of the targets associated with a large acute NHS Trust (18 weeks, 4 hour A&E waits, reducing infection) along with an enhanced awareness of the key strategic drivers within the wider NHS. The importance of an effective and open working relationship between acute and primary care was demonstrated with excellent feedback from the local GPs. Ultimately the aim was to integrate the service with mainstream services within the Trust, which was acheived.

The first independent maternity centre with birthing rooms as well as postnatal facilities for partners to stay, along with hotel services and delicious food! I was proudly one of the original four midwives to develop this concept. Offering antenatal care, birth at the centre, at home or in a hospital of their choice. Sadly it was before its time and after I made the decision to move back into mainstream midwifery, it only continued for a few more years.
