About Lynne-Marie Howden

Purple Owl took flight in February 2021. We exist to help leaders make wise decisions, do good things and bring people with them. I'm naturally ever-curious about people and business. To borrow a quote from Carl Jung, I believe that ‘to ask the right question is already half the solution of the problem.’ I thrive on combining practical wisdom with a creative and visionary view, stimulating others to find clarity on issues and decisions that may feel complex, confusing or overwhelming. I believe in the power of partnership and enjoy human and humourful connections with my clients but I won't let them off the hook for the commitments they make to themselves and others! A lover of words, narrative and messaging, I’m at my best helping clients think about their personal and business brand and proposition - who they are and who they're NOT; what they do and DON’T do. Then helping them align this with their activities and outcomes to present one consistent, compelling story. Before the owl left the corporate nest, I worked in management development at British Airways, then as an facilitator in my own L&D business. Then I moved into sales for Mars Confectionery before holding a range of roles at Insights Learning and Development for twenty years until April 2020. At Insights I spent a decade on the Executive Board, as Director of Customer Experience and before that as Director of Marketing and Product. During this time, I was responsible for defining the customer strategy that contributed towards Insights more than quadrupling in size in both revenue and profit, growing rapidly from a small business to an industry leader. In my final role at Insights, I led a team of over eighty people in multiple geographies. Before joining the board at Insights, I held senior roles there in sales, consulting and solution design, providing me with breadth and depth in the art and science of developing human potential and talent. I'm turbo-charged by my relentless belief in the importance of the customer and colleague experience. Two of my favourite legacies from my time at Insights are originating the concepts of the 'Customer Love Story' and the 'Legendary Customer Experience', contributing to sustained industry-beating customer satisfaction scores.I’ve worked with employees and clients all over the world, including some of the world’s biggest global brands. I understand regional differences and cultural nuances and how to adapt my style to influence and connect with leaders with different backgrounds, contexts and cultural perspectives.
