About Lynne Miles
Lynne is an economist and planner specialising in local growth and urban policy. Prior to that she was the Deputy Director of Industrial Strategy, and set up an economic policy and productivity unit within BEIS. . Prior to her public sector experience, Lynne was an economist at Arup for 19 years. She has an MPA degree in public and economic policy at LSE and at Columbia University, majoring in urban policy. The MPA is an advanced master’s degree which is analogous to an MBA for the public sector.That combined experience has given her an excellent understanding of a range of economic development and policy issues. Although a technically accomplished analyst, Lynne's work now tends to be strategic in nature and broad in scope, often sitting at the intersection of economic, sectoral, skills, transport, housing and planning policy. She set up Arup's quantitative evaluation business which has rapidly established itself as a leader in econometric impact evaluation.
