As the Residence Head of Harmonie Residence at Stellenbosch University, my role is multifaceted, focusing on the holistic development and well-being of students within their living environment. I ensure the integration of academic and social aspects, fostering an environment where students can learn not only from their formal studies but also from their interactions with peers, mentors, and staff.My leadership approach emphasises the importance of soft skills, emotional intelligence, and cultural awareness, recognising that these attributes are essential for success in the modern job market and in our personal lives. Through collaboration with the House Committee of the residence, I facilitate opportunities for students to develop these skills through social interactions, cultural experiences, and personal and leadership development opportunities.Some of my responsibilities include building an inclusive culture aligned with the residence's values, mentoring and guiding committee members, designing and implementing programmes for leadership and personal development, and maintaining communication with students to address relevant matters.Additionally, I oversee residence maintenance and safety protocols, manage disciplinary processes, liaise with parents, offer emotional support to students, and collaborate with various university departments and clusters to ensure a cohesive and supportive community.Through my role, I aim to create a welcoming and supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and personally, preparing them to make positive contributions to the residence, the wider student population, the university, and society at large.

I am responsible for the marketing, communications and public relations needs of the entire Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, which includes 18 departments and 10 centres.

I was responsible for relationship building and networking with staff the University's four campuses in order to facilitate communication via the Kampusnuus newspaper and other communication platforms. I also managed and planned the entire editorial (conducting interviews, copy writing, proof reading and editing) and production process (managing layout) of Kampusnuus as well as the e-Kampusnuus until production of the electronic newsletter was stopped.
