Like Yoga, writing is a practice. You don't just get up one day and pop into an full backbend, and you don't just get up one day and write the great American novel.I studied journalism at the University of South Carolina, and have worked at newspapers since 1985. I currently report on the area arts and entertainment scene through print and social media. I scripted and developed two instructional DVDs, "Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients: Reconnecting Body, Mind & Spirit," (2009) http://www.artsofyoga.com/products.html , and "More Gentle Yoga for Cancer Patients & People Living With Other Chronic Illness," both available on Amazon.I am in the final drafts of "Mining the Media," a book about how to market your message to conventional media - newspapers, radio and TV - and I am writing - by blog - a book called "Ridiing the Tiger," about my journey through cancer using Yoga. Writing is what I do.

I began practicing Yoga in the 1960s in South Carolina from a book that my mother got from a book-of-the-month club. In the 1970s, I found a wonderful teacher, Rick Baty, and my brother, Jacob Felder, a meditation and partner-Yoga teacher, brought back information about Yoga that he received from Sri Swami Satchidananda at the Swami's ashrams in Connecticut and Virginia. I studied with a Kripalu teacher in the 1980s, with Self-Realization Fellowship, Iyengar and Ashtanga teachers in the 1990s, and with Anusara and Integral Yoga teachers in the 2000's I have taught Yoga to mainstream students since 2001 and to cancer survivors in studies and ongoing programs at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical since 2004. I have completed levels 1 and 3 of Yoga for Cancer Patients and People with Other Chronic Illnesses with Jnani Chapman, R.N., B.S.N., C.M.T., C.Y.T., and have served in programs for cancer survivors and people in 12-step Recovery at Yogaville, the Integral Yoga Ashram, since 2009. My teachers include such masters as Doug Keller (therapeutic Yoga), Erich Schiffmann (author of "The Art and Practice of Moving Into Stillness"), Dr. Tim McCall (medical editor of "Yoga Journal" and author of "Yoga as Medicine"), Durga Leelah (founder Yoga of Recovery) and Jnani Chapman (Yoga for People Living With Cancer and Other Chronic Illnesses), R.N., B.S.N., C.M.T., C.Y.T.
