I worked with Federally Qualified Health Centers to empower them to communicate effectively with their elected officials and increase advocacy across the Southeast US. providing training in federal policy that affects them, strategies for media outreach, civic engagement, and voter registration at community health centers, their national and state conferences.

One of 40 members of Nashville's governing body elected to represent 18,000 constituents, I served two terms until term limited in the largest non-partisan city council in the country. I was lead sponsor of legislation creating Educational Access Television in our city, amended zoning regulations to restrict higher density construction more than any other district in the city, and preserved one historical neighborhood with a protective overlay.

This coincided with the birth of my two children, and introduced me to Nashville's wealth of experts and resources for families and children.
