I am currently a full time student at University at the West of Scotland Paisley campus; studying BA Events Management Honours degree. I completed my BA Degree last year and decided to continue on another year for my Honours and carry out a research study for my dissertation.As well as my full time education, I have a part-time job in The Kilt Centre in Hamilton. I have worked there for four years; gaining experience and developing skills I need to continue into a more full-time career path.I have two extra-curricular activities that are important to me. I am currently an officer in 1st Shotts Girls Brigade; volunteering each week during school time to take a session. I am also member of the Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band, in which I play the tenor drum and love every minute of it. Both of these activities are important to me in helping me gaining experience and develop skills I feel are needed.

  In my current role as a shop assistant at The Kilt Centre, I have been responsible for ensuring that day-to-day tasks are done sufficiently, organising several customers’ orders/appointments and other paperwork; as well as organising external events The Kilt Centre have been a member of e.g. Wedding Fares. This, coupled with my enthusiasm and dedication, has helped me to develop strong communication and people skills; organisational skills and motivational skills. Through work I am daily dealing with customers; with this comes learning to listen to what customers want and delivering a service to their requirements. I have learned that my confidence has increasingly developed, as I have had to motivate myself in order to tackle challenging tasks on more than one occasion, e.g. having to use my initiative; when a required order for a customer does not arrive in time.
