Hello! My name is Lyssette Latorre. I graduated from LIU, Brooklyn Campus with a Masters degree in Special Education in urban settings. I also have a Bachelors degree in both Political Science, and History with a minor in English Literature. My expertise in this profession has gone well beyond the scope of simply educating. I have taken on numerous projects in my 7+ years, leading over 100 staff members with varying skill sets. I have formed several interdisciplinary partnerships with schools throughout the city to help redevelop and strengthen the curriculum, relying on empirical data and well-established research. In taking on these challenges, I have been a part of paving the way for updated and new NYS standards and policies, by sharing my acquired knowledge via professional development seminars. Through continued collaboration, inter-class visitation, and individualized mentoring, I have helped numerous colleagues improve their observation ratings and achieve tenure. While educating the next generation is one aspect of my profession, my strengths expand well beyond that role.
