About Laurence Yeung, Ph.D
I have 20 years’ experience in research, teaching, and innovation in the natural sciences, specifically in chemistry, Earth systems science, and climate. For the past two years I have been leveraging this experience to reduce the carbon and water footprint of the coffee industry in the 21st century. As an academic scientist and professor, I made key discoveries about the chemistry of the atmosphere, oceans, and life over Earth's history, using innovative new techniques and out-of-box thinking. In addition to being included in the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) 2021 consensus report, the work netted numerous awards, including the F.W. Clarke award from the Geochemical Society (2016), the David & Lucile Packard Science and Engineering Fellowship (2017-2022), and a National Science Foundation CAREER award (2020-2025). I also served as expert reviewer or advisor to organizations such as the Galveston Bay Foundation, the National Research Council, NASA, and the NSF.
