Conservationist, I live close to the forests in Itombwe Mountains, Democratic Republic of Congo, working with local communities on wildlife conservation by mixing my local knowledge with more formal knowledge gained at university. This area of the world, Itombwe Mountains, is internationally recognized as a Key Biodiversity Area and also an Alliance for Zero Extinction site. At IGH since 2014, as Executive Director, I have built a field team that work daily to protect wildlife from extinction and reduce degradation of tropical rainforest that aids to mitigate global-scale threats such as climate change. This includes empowering people in the Itombwe Mountains to be able to better conserve their natural resources as well as providing results of scientific research to better understand the importance of the Itombwe Mountains and how best to conserve the incredibly rich biodiversity to be found here. I have established, in 2017, the first ongoing Gorilla Monitoring Scheme (GMS) in Itombwe Nature Reserve (a protected area located in Itombwe Mountains).
Listed skills include Wildlife Law Enforcement, Biodiversity Monitoring, Conservation Education, Nature Protection, and 2 others.
