Mineralization of carbon dioxide in basaltic rock is a very promising carbon capture and storage technique as it offers permanent and stable entrapment of CO2. This process has potential applications in several locations around the globe as basalt rock covers large areas of the earth subsurfaces including the sea floor. In this postdoctoral project, we try to improve our understating of the short- and long-term effects of pumping CO2 solution into basalt rock formations in the subsurface. The goal is to be able to estimate and optimize the CO2 storage capacity of local basalt sites. We do so by:- Developing reactive flow models to study CO2 interaction with basalt and water.- Conducting small scale flooding experiments paired with mineralogical characterization.
  • Hafnium Labs
    Data Scientist
    Hafnium Labs Oct 2019 - Nov 2019
    Copenhagen Area, Capital Region, Denmark
Great short-term project employment at Hafnium Labs, where I had the pleasure to work with:- Deep Learning: Image recognition using PyTorch and TensorFlow- Thermodynamic modeling: implementing pt-flash models using Julia programing language
  • Dtu - Technical University Of Denmark
    Postdoctoral Researcher
Dtu - Technical University Of Denmark May 2018 - May 2019
Towards a reactive transport model to assess and predict the performance of improved oil and gas well cementing:- Project planning.- Design of experiments and analyzing the results.- Collaborating with other research institutions.
  • Technical University Of Denmark
    Phd Researcher
Technical University Of Denmark Jun 2014 - Apr 2018
My PhD project is a part of an innovation consortium called ‘Green concrete II’ where the main goal is to create a solid background for the transition towards the use of low carbon cement and concrete production in Denmark. Low carbon cement is a new type of cement where high amounts of the traditional cement are replaced with more environmentally friendly materials, such as such as fly ash, calcined clays, and limestone. The project tasks included:- Developing an advanced multi-phase reactive mass transport model for porous media with application to long-term durability performance estimation of new cement-based materials. The latest model developments were the addition of gas transport, temperature gradients, and non-isothermal chemical equilibrium. - Implementation of nonlinear coupled multi-field problems using the finite element method in combination with chemical equilibrium calculations.- Designing and conducting laboratory controlled experiments in order to validate predefined models using, for example, Dynamic Vapor Sorption (DVS) equipment, cup test, etc. - Proposing new methods to determine crucial model parameters using inverse analysis and optimization techniques such as Maximum Likelihood Estimation technique.- Estimating long-term (100 years) durability performance of new low carbon cement types.
  • Dtu - Technical University Of Denmark
    Course Manager
Dtu - Technical University Of Denmark Jan 2016 - Mar 2016
    Copenhagen Area, Denmark
During my PhD project, I was responsible for an introductory course about drilling engineering at the master level attended by more than 40 students. My tasks included: - Coordinating guest lectures from the major oil companies operating in Denmark including Schlumberger, Maersk Oil, Maersk Drilling and Halliburton. - Planning, teaching and tutoring drilling-related simulation tools. - Constructing and correcting exercises and a written exam.
  • University Of Colorado Denver
    Guest Researcher
University Of Colorado Denver Feb 2015 - Jul 2015
    United States
I had the pleasure to guest Associate Professor Lynn G. Schreyer at the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Colorado Denver, where I worked on the following three projects:- A mathematical model for vapor transport in partially saturated porous materials using chemical potential as a driving force (resulted in a journal publication). - Modeling refugee escape patterns as a flow in porous media case using continuum mechanics.- Hybrid mixture theory - application to multi-phase transport and phase change in porous media.
  • Dtu - Technical University Of Denmark
