Phd Candidate (Charles Parsons Energy Research Award)Queen'S University Belfast Oct 2008 - Sep 2011Belfast, United KingdomTitle: Impact of Widespread Adoption of Heat Pumps on Power System OperationThe work involved experimental evaluation of the characteristics of heat pump as an electric load and its use as a flexible load for balancing wind variability. LabVIEW has been used for data acquisition and analysis. Thermal load model for the underfloor heating system supplied from heat pump has been developed using MATLAB/SIMULINK and used to determine building temperature and energy profile. The aggregated heat pump demand for 2020 has been used to facilitate high wind penetration using WILMAR planning tool. A dynamic load model for the heat pump has also been developed in DIgSILENT and used for the study of high penetration of heat pumps in low-voltage network. In addition to my PhD research, I have also demonstrated labs at Queen's University Belfast and taught Circuit Principles at INTO QUEEN's where I used advanced teaching facilities like interactive white board etc.The labs, I demonstrated are as follows:Electric CircuitsElectric MachinesElectrical Engineering fundamentals. -
