My position consists of analyzing company financial statements to determine their creditworthiness. I do so by constructing a pro forma financial analysis, determining the firm's profitability for the next 5 to 10 years. I use key financial metrics and ratios such as the debt-to-service ratio to determine a company's expectancy to repay its loan. After completing my analysis, I write an annual credit analysis highlighting the components of the loan's financials, my credit recommendation, the risks, and built-in covenants. Afterward, my managers and I present the report to the loan committee giving our executive presentation on the risks involved and our recommendation on completing this deal.

I analyzed financial models my professor had created, determined the model's integrity, wrote up a summary of my findings, and presented it to my professor. For example, I looked at a financial model regarding the use of put and call options on lease agreements. The use of a put options on a lease creates divisibility and allows for risk sharing and the use of call options shifts the job of monitoring the asset from the lessor to the lessee. From there, we determine the estimated residual price using the Black-Scholes Model and the Geseke Model. We then determine price volatility with the help of warrant sensitivities (delta, gamma, rho, and vega). I then analyzed the tables given, the volatility graphs, and the outputs.

I have been selected along with four other students from Suffolk University to compete in the CFA research challenge. The challenge consists of completing a full valuation of the company Toast with a complete analyst report confirming the CFA guidelines. We will be competing against other business schools in the Boston area demonstrating who has the best analytical and presentation skills. In preparation for the research project, we have read through the most recent 10-k SEC filing report, analyzing financial statements for past and future performance. We have read through recent 10-Q reports for 2023 for Q1 and Q2 to have a better understanding of where the company is headed and if the projections made by Toast regarding revenue and EBITDA are accurate. The valuation of the company Toast includes gathering past data of its financial statements and projecting a pro forma analysis five years into the future evaluating the company's profits/losses. With the help of notions such as WACC, CAPM, DCF, unlevered free cash flow, and DDM we are able to forecast future cash flows determining the firm's value and its stock price. We will be adding financial ratios to help determine company performance such as profit margins, current ratio, ROE, etc. We will then determine if Toast's stock is currently overvalued, undervalued, or neutral. Depending on our results, we have to determine if we should buy, sell, or hold Toast's stock. We have completed our recent Excel model including a full valuation of the company Toast.

My New Valley Bank & Trust internship had my days split in half working with the CFO and the commercial lending department. During my time with the CFO, I would review with him the financial model he had created analyzing the bank's performance over the past years. We would use this information to evaluate the bank's performance and review scenarios if basis points rise or drop to see how the bank would perform. As well, we would use this financial model to analyze potential risks and indicators regarding the bank's balance sheet. We would discuss budget analysis of the bank's spending and what was the main focus of the bank's purchases. At the time, New Valley Bank & Trust was expanding and opening a new branch. He showed me the financial plans for the bank and the budget constraints. The CFO would explain certain bonds, mutual funds, treasury bills, and certificates of deposit investments he would make. He would then allow me to process all investment transactions using Oracle. I would be allowed to analyze the Bloomberg description of the investment purchase. The documents would include basic information such as price, the amount purchased, a graph illustrating its performance, and a full write-up analysis of the investment. My other half of the day would be spent with the commercial lending department. I would review business financial statements daily and retransfer all of the client's information into Bakerhill. Afterward, I would conduct a credit analysis by creating annual review loans. I would gather all of the debt a business has and plug the numbers into an Excel model the portfolio manager had created. The Excel model would analyze the client's capacity to repay their debt to the bank based on their past financials and give them an overall credit score. As part of the commercial lending department, I would have the chance to listen to board member calls regarding potential client loans that would be profitable for the bank in the future.
