Calves Team- Daily Feeding and giving electrolytes to calves as well as scraping hutches to ensure best welfare practices and health of the animals.- Treatment of sick animals following appropriate health protocols, including vaccinating, dehorning, castrating and weighing of calvesHealth and Maternity- Assisting Calving cows or Heifers to deliver calves which included manually feeling and pulling calves at times. This also includes processing newborn calves, via vaccinating, tagging and also tubing calves colostrum. Additionally, was required to process mums after they had calved, which include drenching and bolus-ing animals- Responsible for moving cattle and scraping out bedding and feed lanes using a Skid steer- Performed basic health checks on cattle, including taking blood samples for ketone measurements, taking temperatures, and treating when necessary through subcutaneous or intramuscular injections or by using an IV to deliver fluids.- Was required to be adaptable and identify animals that needed treatment as well as processing the day’s data and entering it into the computer system.
