I am permanently residing in the UK and have more than 18 years of experience in the health care industry as a nurse, sister in charge, lead nurse, nursing supervisor, application specialist, and clinical educator in Sri Lanka, Oman, and England. Upon successful completion of my Diploma in General Nursing, I was selected to practice my nursing career in interventional cardiology at Apollo Hospitals, Sri Lanka, as a staff nurse, subsequently promoted as a sister in charge as a recognition of my managerial and leading skills as a young, dynamic nurse. During this time, I was focused on obtaining foreign exposure and, as a result, joined Muscat Pvt. Hospital in Oman. Here, I assumed duties as a lead nurse in interventional cardiology, management, overseeing all the functions and personnel's, including the cardiac outpatient department. Subsequently I returned to Sri Lanka and joined as a nursing supervisor in the cardiac electrophysiology unit at Asiri Surgical Hospital, which is one of the largest private hospital chains in Sri Lanka, and at the same time I graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science with honours with a 3.33 final GPA. Along the way, I decided to shift to the health care product sales and manufacturing industry to expand my experience in the industry. I joined Technomedics Pvt. Ltd. as an application specialist and got exposed to the non-clinical aspect of the health industry and gained more experience in how the public health sector contributes to a country's health and the process and formalities of medical/surgical product purchasing. Thereafter, I was privileged to be a member of B Braun Lanka, a subsidiary of B Braun Global Company, as a Senior Application Specialist and Aesculap Academy Coordinator. However, with the recognition and the potential I showed, spontaneously, the management decided to handover multitasking job roles, resulting in handling an entire strategic business account while continuing with the role of academy coordinator, where I got the opportunity to organise many clinical sessions and workshops, for doctors and nurses, such as the 1st cadaveric neurodrill workshop. I have always been a firm believer that change begins in me, and I look forward to every opportunity that would better me as a human being. I have had to adapt to several major changes throughout my career, overall, I believe that my ability to adapt to change helped me to navigate the merger successfully and continue to thrive in my journey. I’m confident that I can apply these same strategies in any future challenges or changes that come my way.
